講義概要

To gain a deeper understanding of civil engineering in the master's program, specialized educational programs are available for each field. Students will learn about the theory and practice of civil engineering materials, construction and construction management, structural engineering, earthquake engineering and maintenance engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic engineering, civil engineering planning and transportation engineering, civil engineering environmental systems, and urban planning. The program is designed so that students can systematically progress through each stage (I-IV) of the special research project to complete their master's thesis.

開講意図

Under the guidance of a primary and secondary supervisor, students will be able to clarify the background, objectives, origins, relevant domestic and international research trends, originality, and creativity of their master's thesis. Subsequently, they will cultivate the ability to draw conclusions based on the means and stages of consideration, and to implement their findings in society.

到達目標

(1) Understand the academic significance and background of the research topic through discussions with the main and co-supervisors, as well as through literature searches.
(2) Make a decision on the direction of the research and be able to clearly explain it to the main and co-supervisors, as well as all faculty members in the course.
(3) Ensure the research content is significant and rational, and be able to logically and concisely document and produce it, completing it as a master's thesis.
(4) Develop the ability to give a presentation at the master's thesis defense and respond appropriately to questions and answers.

内容

授業以外の学習
本科目は、単位数×45時間の学修が必要な内容で構成されています。授業として実施する学修の他に、授業の内容を深めるために以下の事前・事後学修が必要です。

1

[This course is a 5-credit course, with a total study time of approximately 225 hours.]
The lecture and seminar plan is designed to achieve the "learning objectives" by systematically studying the following content:
(1) During the entrance orientation, students will learn the basics of how to conduct research from the course director.
(2) Through discussions with their main and co-supervisors, students will define research objectives, identify academic problems to be solved, and formulate a research plan.
(3) Students will investigate and comment on the background and academic positioning of their research topic using literature and materials.
(4) Students will conduct investigations, experiments, and analyses according to their research plan, consider the results obtained, and draw conclusions.

(1) Actively present the results obtained at events organized by academic societies and other organizations to enhance the objectivity of the content by obtaining third-party criticism.
(2) Present the results at the master's thesis interim presentation held by February of the first year, followed by a question-and-answer session.
(3) Complete the master's thesis by January of the second year and submit it to the course director.
(4) Present the results at the master's thesis defense held in February of the second year, followed by a question-and-answer session.

成績評価の方法と基準

The main supervisor will determine the grade based on a comprehensive assessment of the research process leading up to the master's thesis defense, the academic evaluation of the research content, and the student's attitude towards academic society events. Research progress will be evaluated using a rubric established by the course in accordance with the learning objectives. The final pass/fail decision for the master's thesis will be made by all faculty members in the course.

開示する成績評価の根拠資料等

This information is disclosed through the research guidance implementation report in the integrated portfolio learning support system and the rubric table in the Special Research in Urban Infrastructure Engineering II.

開示方法

The main supervisor will provide explanations based on research notes, experiments, surveys, analyses, projects, research guidance reports, and rubrics.
